1) What is the purpose of the PTA?
To unite teachers and parents in an effort to improve the education
and welfare of all children.
The PTA does not set any school/educational policy.
2) How
does my child directly benefit from the Englewood Cliffs PTA?
a) The
EC-PTA supplements your child's education in many ways.
For example this year the EC-PTA:
Ø paid for school assemblies
Ø gave each grade $500.00 for class trips
Ø gave $800 to 2nd grade moving up and $800 to 8th grade
graduation
b) The
EC-PTA works with the school on many of the fun events and festivities.
The EC-PTA traditionally supplements:
Ø Arbor Day Celebration
Ø Pumpkin Patch Day
Ø 100th Day of School
Ø Dr. Seuss Day
Ø Senior Citizen Events
Ø Accelerator Reader Incentives
Ø Teacher Appreciation
Ø Principal's Challenge
c) The
EC-PTA provides many services.
The EC-PTA traditionally runs:
Ø School Photographs
Ø Book Fair
Ø Hot Lunches
Ø Pizza every Friday
Ø Ice Cream served weekly
Ø General Mills Box Tops Collection
Additionally,
the EC-PTA helps improve the facilities and school environment.
Fundraising over
several years enabled the EC-PTA to recently purchase air-conditioning
for the multi-purpose
room at North Cliff and the 7th and 8th grade areas at Upper
School. EC-PTA also gets
involved in community events. For example, we annually sponsor
the bussing for the Revlon
Walk. We have planted a tree in Johnson Field to be part of
the Englewood Cliffs Community.
3) How
do I become a member?
The 2005/2006 membership drive will begin in September. One
may join at any General
Membership meeting or through a membership form sent home via
your child's backpack.
4) How
do I volunteer?
Attend the General Membership meetings and sign up for a committee.
All are welcomed -
parents, guardians, grandparents. Join in on the activities
- we really do make a difference.
Share with the PTA your ideas, opinions, experience and special
talents.
5) How
does the PTA raise funds?
During the course of the school year the EC-PTA runs several
fundraisers. For example, Gift
Wrap Sale, Bloomingdale Shop Day and a Book Fair. Recently we
hosted a Casino Night and
previous years an Art Auction was held.
